I don't eat ham but I gave her a slice
She left the table, ham in hand
I was about to follow her but my hunger got the best of me
And my calls got no return
As I went to stand up, she came back around the corner
Ham in hand
I was relieved that I wouldn't find it under my pillow later
Or under T’s where B had been lying with her hands together in a funny way yesterday
She turned away
I presumed she consumed the presunto as it was no longer in her hand
Then she trod into my kitchen/garden shoes
And stepped up the step to the bathroom
And down again
Then plodded towards me and became barefoot
She put the lid on the butter
And walked away with it
I stopped her from putting it in the bin
Then she asked for more tremoços while pointing to the bottom of her bowl
And danced for five seconds on her chair to PJ’s Memphis
Then got down and watched her reflection in the oven door
As she swung her arms and sang Jingle Bells
I checked my shoes for ham
She must have eaten it.
