Draped in leggings ten sizes too big
With felt cupped around the face of
A preschooler who has four whole years
Four whole long, but short years
Acknowledging the cliché, I ask
Where does the time go?
We used to get through the days
Operating one nap cycle at a time
Now the day is split into
Before and after L’s siesta
Soon that will be non-existent
And we’ll exist
Taking things one day at a time
Until the analogue timepiece ticks by
And we’ll function on a longer limit.
It feels like it has taken me four years
